Professional
Dr. Yu was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States at the
age of 3. She grew up in Manhattan Beach, California. She attended the
University of Notre Dame and received a bachelors of science degree in
pre-professional sciences. She then ventured to New Orleans to attend
Tulane University School of Medicine. At Tulane, she received a Medical
Degree as well as a Masters of Public Health in International Health.
Dr. Yu joined the Department of Surgery at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1998 and
completed two years of general surgery residency followed by 4 years of
residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She has won
several research awards in ENT as a resident; a listing of publications
can be viewed below. She is currently an instructor with the American
College of Surgeons Adult Trauma Life Support Course for ER physicians.
Dr. Yu has recently completed her residency in June 2004 and is Board-Certified
in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.
Personal
Personal interests include running, tennis, traveling, and classical piano.
